FAQ Internship
Approval of an internship / training completed before the beginning of the Bachelor ´s program
Internships can only be approved if they required psychological basic knowledge which has been acquired during a university education.
This means that vocational trainings cannot be aprincipally proved (exception: nurse with a psychiatric additional training can be approved proportionately after consultation).
Approval of an internship that has been completed before the beginning of the Master ´s program
Basically, a master ’s internship must differ qualitatively from the activity during the bachelor ’s degree. If the focus was on the internship and the overview of various task areas in the bachelor, the master 's internship should be characterized by an intervention or diagnostic component and should focus on personal further education and training of the students. In the foreground is the individual development towards becoming a psychological scientist and / or practicing psychologist.
For recognition, please submit all documents (job description, certificate, etc.) to the internship office
Weekly working hours / extension
The study regulations provide for a full-time internship of at least 9 weeks (BSc) or 12 weeks (MSc). Full-time means the weekly standard working time, which also applies to permanent employees of the respective internship (e.g. 40h; 38.5h) The internship can also be extended to several weeks, however, the hours worked per week must not be less than a quarter of the usual normal working time (at least 10 hours for a 40-hour week).
Division of the internship
The internship can also be divided, with each part corresponding to at least 4 weeks full-time.
Supervision during the internship
It must be ensured that the main support during the internship is provided by a university graduate who has been successfully performing the psychological activities relevant to the professional field for a long time and has been additionally trained for these activities.
If this is not clearly the case, please contact Ms. Windisch BEFORE an agreement with the internship.
ESIW- und KPÜ-tutors
Tutors who accompany the first semester introductory week or who have been trained as tutors in the Communication Psychological Exercises (KPÜ) or by ProKonflikt can be credited with 4 weeks of internship for their work.
The persons responsible for the introductory week (s) or the responsible lecturers of the KPÜ / ProKonflikt seminars confirm by signing the "Internship seminar certificate" the period of time in which the tutorial was completed.
Insurance protection during internship
Students who complete a (compulsory) internship as part of their studies usually integrate themselves into the operational process during this practical period and thus meet the requirements for dependent employees in accordance with Section 2 Paragraph 1 No. 1 SGB VII. The accident insurance institution responsible for the internship company (Section 133 (1) SGB VII) is therefore responsible. In principle, this applies regardless of whether a remuneration is paid for the activity or not.
