A Task and Platform for Studying Human-Agent Teaming in Intelligence Analysis Shift Handovers 
With the increase in the volume and velocity of information, team problem solving has become even more challenging. The development of artificial intelligence (AI) tools to facilitate information management and team cognition is in its infancy. The goal of this project was to develop a platform and research paradigm for studying asynchronous team problem solving in the context of intelligence analysis shift handovers, specifically, and the potential role of AI. We created an experimental platform, a fictional world, an intelligence task with dozens of documents, and questionnaires to measure problem solving success and team cognition. The experimental platform also captures keystrokes, timestamps, and the contents of the scratchpad. This talk presents the current platform and task, the research that led to them, and initial results.
