English Language Requirements
For all degree programmes at the Faculty of Psychology and Human Movement Science, including Teacher training in physical education, proof of English language proficiency at level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR/GER) is required.
For the Master's in Clinical Psychology and Master's in Human Movement and Sport Science, this requirement must be fulfilled prior to enrolment
- by providing proof of English language proficiency at level B2
- by submitting a written declaration that English is your native language
- by providing proof of a first professionally qualifying university degree obtained in an English-language degree programme
For the Master's in Psychology Research, this requirement is fulfilled via information provided in the online application
- by providing proof of English language proficiency at level B2
- by submitting a written declaration that English is your native language
- by providing proof of a first professionally qualifying university degree obtained in an English-language degree programme
The recognised tests for English B2 are:
- CEFR B2 level or higher as documented on the German higher education entrance qualification.
Alternatively, where no level is explicitly stated, English must have been taken as a standard course through to at least Year 12 (8-year secondary school, G8) or Year 13 (9-year secondary school, G9), and passed with a minimum of 6 points. For qualifications obtained at a vocational school, it is required that English language instruction throughout both general and vocational education up to the point of qualification be documented. - International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic Test with a minimum score of 5.5

- Oxford Test of English with a minimum score of 111
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic with a minimum score of 59
- AKS UNIcert® Level II or higher
- The European Language Certificates (telc) English B2 / telc English University B2/C1
- KMK Foreign Language Certificate Level III
- Certificate of higher education entrance qualification obtained in an English-language educational programme in a country where English is an official language (e.g. US High School Diploma), or results of equivalent admission tests (SAT, ACT)
- IB Diploma with English as Language A and a final grade of at least 6.0, or European Baccalaureate with English as Language L1 or L2 and a final grade of at least 8.0
- Proof of completion of a degree programme at a recognised university where English is the sole language of instruction. Suitable certificates or documents to verify an English-language degree programme include the degree certificate, a transcript of records, a diploma supplement, or statutes governing admission and the programme of study.
