4 September 2023, by Celestina Hermida da Costa
As part of the research group „Kontexteinflüsse auf dynamische Lernprozesse in sich verändernden Umgebungen: Grundlegende Mechanismen und klinische Implikationen“, the team of Prof. Dr. Tania Lincoln systematically explains which mechanisms work in the brain when processing new information and changes and, above all, why they don't work for some people. The aim is to further investigate what influence development phases such as childhood or adolescence and external factors such as stress have on this type of dynamic learning. These findings will be used to understand the development of various mental illnesses.
In addition to Prof. Lincoln, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Gluth from the Department of General Psychology from the University of Hamburg is part of the team. The Department of General Psychology got a total of 653 thousand euros as funding. Prof. Dr. Ulf Liszkowski (Department of Developmental Psychology), Prof. Dr. Anja Riesel (clinical psychology and psychotherapy department – focus on clinical neuroscience) and Prof. Dr. Lars Schwabe (Cognitive Psychology Department) will be on the team as well.
The project is supported by funding from the DFG research group worth 4.5 million euros and lasts four years. In addition to the funding of 4.5 million euros, there is a program lump sum, so that the project receives a total of 5.4 million euros.
