The article "The assimilation of novel information into schemata and its efficient consolidation" by Simmer et al. investigates the assimilation of novel information into schemata and its effective organizational processing leading to referential connections with the activation of the associative schema network to enhance memory formation for related novel information. To this end, the authors conducted a study of 28 participants over seven weeks using both multivariate and univariate fMRI analyses to both substantiate this and clarify the neural basis of these processes.
