Teaching Program
Bachelor's degree
The basic module "Social Psychology" is usually covered in the first year of study. The introductory lecture and tutorial in the winter term are held by Prof. Degner in English. In the following summer term, we offer in-depth seminars on selected topics in social psychology, in which classical and current research paradigms and findings are discussed. The seminars will be held mainly in German.
In the winter term of 2022/23, for example, the following courses will be offered:
Lecture: Social Psychology (Dr. Bodansky - in English)
Seminar: Wissenschaftstheorie vs. postfaktische Politik (Dr. Bodansky - in German)
Master's degree
Basic Module Origins of and Differences in Human Cognition and Personality
This module has strong social psychological components. In the first part of the module (winter term), one third of the main seminar and the accompanying seminar are devoted to social psychological research on person perception. In the second part (summer term), an in-depth seminar on social psychological research on stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination is offered. These courses are offered by Prof. Degner in English.
Project Seminar Social Psychology
In the Project Seminar Social Psychology, students learn to integrate theories and methods from different social psychological research approaches and, based on these, to develop their own research approach and implement it in small groups. This two-term course is led by different researchers from the department. An overarching theme is defined for each year (e.g.: 2020/21: Person Perception).
Choice of courses in Psychology
The Department of Social Psychology offers a course on comparative cultural psychology (Prof. Degner, English) and on social identity and political rhetoric (Dr. Bodansky, German) in the Psychological Elective every two years.
