Aptitude test
Admission to the Bachelor of Psychology degree program for winter semester 2025/26.
The University of Hamburg will take the result of the BaPsy-DGPs aptitude test into account for admission to the Bachelor of Psychology degree program in winter semester 2025/26.
In the application procedure, a maximum of 51 percent can be achieved through the grade of the university entrance qualification and a maximum of a further 49 percent through the BaPsy-DGP test result.
Registration for the test will take place in the period from 15.12.2025 up to and including 15.02.2026 at https://www.studieneignungstest-psychologie.de.
The test will take place in 2026 on May 30 and 31 at one of the test locations to be announced later. The test language is German only.
Current information on test locations and test dates as well as further information on test content, preparation and test fees can be found at https://www.studieneignungstest-psychologie.de .
The aptitude test can be repeated, but at the earliest after two years. According to the recommendation of the German Psychological Society and the test authors, the test certificate is therefore valid for at least five years. During its validity, the test result can be used repeatedly for applications for admission to the same or other universities that also use the BaPsy-DGPs aptitude test for admission decisions.
Each university determines how long a test notification is valid. The University of Hamburg accepts test certificates that are not older than five years.
The test certificate shows the test performance in two parameters: A person's percentile rank within all results of the test year and the standard score. Each university determines which of the parameters it uses. At the University of Hamburg, the percentile rank is used.
Participation in the test is voluntary and is not a prerequisite for admission. However, all prospective students are recommended to take part in the test to improve their chances of gaining a place at university.

Please note:
Applicants not of German equivalent status will not benefit from participation in the BaPsy-DGPs test.
According to the Hamburg Higher Education Admission Act, there is no separate procedure for second degree applications, i.e. at the University of Hamburg the study aptitude test is also a criterion for this group and we recommend participation.
The aptitude test is also a criterion for professionally qualified persons according to § 37 and § 38 and participation is also recommended.
Likewise, applicants who submit a special application (e.g. top athletes) are recommended to take the aptitude test in the event that the respective quota is exceeded and the application is rejected. In this case, the rules described above apply again.
