Project grant from the federal state of Hamburg

BPN was awarded a project by the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (Landesforschungsförderung, LFF-FV 76) entitled “Changes of the excitatory/inhibitory balance during human brain development“, which is part of a larger consortium investigating “Mechanisms regulating excitation and inhibition in the learning and diseased brain” (2020-2013; speaker: Prof. Dr. Matthias Kneussel).
The excitatory/inhibitory balance of neural circuits crucially defines efficient processing and the capacity for change (neuroplasticity). The project “Changes of the excitatory/inhibitory balance during human brain development” will investigate how the excitatory/inhibitory balance of neural circuits emerges in human brain development as well as the role of experience.
