UHH - NYU
Graduate Exchange Program University of Hamburg - New York University
Goal
Over two decades, the exchange program between the University of Hamburg and New York University has promoted the internationalization of research and teaching at both universities and established continuous cooperation through joint research projects. Within the framework of the exchange, doctoral students, master students, and undergraduate students from the University of Hamburg are given the opportunity to visit New York University in fall/winter, while New York University students are coming to Hamburg in the summer term. The exchange program is mentored by Prof. Dr. Oettingen.
Visitors in New York
New York offers students from the University of Hamburg an excellent opportunity to gain access to research at the highest international level. They take part in guest colloquia, weekly lab meetings (discussing ongoing research with students and faculty), project meetings, and they are allowed to design and conduct studies. They do not only observe scientific work conducted at New York University, but learn research skills through hands-on experience. They also can update their methodological skills and learn and practice giving talks and writing up papers. Finally, they can acquire the know-how of international publishing.
Distinguished Lecture Series
Members of the University of Hamburg who are not directly involved in the exchange greatly benefit from the experience of the peers who have been involved in the exchange program and learn from their newly acquired knowledge and skills. Part of the exchange program has been the Distinguished Lecture Series at the University of Hamburg which traditionally takes place in the summer term. Here internationally renowned researchers are invited to give guest lectures and workshops at the University of Hamburg, for example:
