Abstract
This talk will focus on novel insights implicit measures can reveal about micro- and macro-level psychological phenomena. At the macro level, implicit attitudes and beliefs operationalized as region-level constructs shed light on behaviors and judgments that can be difficult or impossible to study in the laboratory. At the micro level, formal mathematical models applied to implicit measures offer new perspectives on the cognitive processes that underlie bias change. Taken together, these findings have implications for emerging perspectives on the stable versus context-dependent nature of implicit attitudes, and also inform domains such as intergroup relations, social ecology, and self-regulation.
