Responsibilities and Objectives
The Graduate School supports members of the institute in establishing and promoting quality standards for doctoral education. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Coordinating and further developing the accompanying program for doctoral candidates (e.g. workshops, guest lectures, events on interdisciplinary topics)
- Implementing measures to internationalize doctoral education
- Promoting cooperation in doctoral training between supervisors, departments, faculties, and non-university research institutions
- Providing support measures for the research projects of doctoral candidates
- Involving both faculty and doctoral candidates in shaping the structure and offerings of the Graduate School, including through participation in its executive board
The objectives of the Graduate School include:
- Promoting internationalization within structured doctoral programs
- Supporting equal opportunities and the compatibility of academic careers and family life
- Facilitating cooperation between Universität Hamburg and non-university research institutions in the context of structured doctoral programs
