Research interests
Our behavior and experience at work is significantly shaped by the social context. At the same time, we influence others through our own behavior. From this perspective, I research how dynamic team processes and leader-follower interactions unfold and develop over time. Another research focus is on meetings as a central interaction setting and as a magnifying glass for leadership and collaboration in organizations.
The traditional research methodology in industrial and organizational psychology - the survey - is generally not suitable for researching dynamic phenomena such as leadership or teamwork. My team and I therefore primarily use video and software-supported behavioral observation methods and quantitative interaction analysis.
We are also increasingly using AI as a research instrument at the interface between psychology and computer science, both as an analysis tool to identify systematic behavioral patterns and as a new interaction setting for application contexts such as team meetings and cooperative learning.
My research is funded by the DFG Excellence Strategy and by third-party funding from companies.
